Support the Kate Johnson Scholarship Fund

The Kate Johnson Scholarship Fund holds a special place in the Lewis Honors College philanthropy program. Kate’s career was dedicated to helping our students explore their purpose in this world. Her impact on Honors students, the Singletary Scholars program and advising across the University cannot be overstated. Her dedication changed the lives of everyone around her, and the scholarship in her name continues this work.

Gifts to this endowment are to be used exclusively for “skill development outside the normal curriculum”, whether that be summer programs, educational and conference travel or research funding. From internships with Fortune 500 organizations to extensive research projects with faculty across the country, students parlay the opportunities that this scholarship provides into impactful careers. In the last year, Kate Johnson Scholarship recipients have presented at conferences in Seattle, San Diego, Phoenix, St. Louis and Boston. They go on to be Chellgren and Gaines Fellows, Fulbright Scholars and leaders in the arts, medicine, engineering and academia.

Your Gift Will Be Matched!

This year's matching gift is made possible by Professor Emeritus Jim Albisetti — Kate’s long-time colleague, former Honors Program Director and History faculty member from the College of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Albisetti was the creator of and first donor to this fund over 20 years ago, and he continues to support Honors students to this day. We are truly grateful for his support. Thank you for helping us meet this challenge!
