We know you love to cheer for the Cats. We bleed blue, too. Like you, all those buzzer-beating shots, come-from-behind victories and the long, hard-fought roads to NCAA Championships live forever in our minds. But they also have a proud home at UK Libraries in the Big Blue Sports Archive.
One of the finest athletics collections in the United States, the Big Blue Sports Archive contains thousands of photographs, player files, programs, game films and oral history interviews with former athletes and coaches. The archive is a gold mine of Wildcat memories, including Claude Sullivan’s recently restored and digitized radio broadcasts and materials dating back to the 1890s.
Through these remarkable collections, fans can relive the glories from nearly a century and a half of sport, and revisit all the teams, coaches and breathtaking moments that live on as UK legends and lore.
On April 18, we are asking UK Libraries friends and supporters to come together to help us keep this history alive.
Our greatest need is to preserve game film that is quickly deteriorating. With every $150 we raise, we can digitize one reel of these fragile materials. Your gifts will enable us to make these unique moments of UK history available to the Big Blue Nation for generations to come.
